SS Innovations International today announced it has installed more than 100 SSi Mantra surgical robotic systems in India and six other countries. To date, more than 5,000 surgical procedures have been successfully performed using the SSi Mantra, including 240 cardiac surgeries and 32 telesurgeries.

“We are thrilled to surpass the milestone of 100 installations of our SSi Mantra surgical robotic system in India and beyond. We are seeing growing demand for and acceptance of the SSi Mantra, which reflects its premium quality, innovative features, ease of use, improved patient experience, and overall cost-effectiveness,” Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of SS Innovations, said.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company said it has developed systems to make robotic surgery affordable and accessible to a larger segment of the global population. The company’s product range includes its proprietary SSi Mantra and its comprehensive suite of SSi Mudra instruments, which support a variety of surgical procedures.

“We aim to democratize access to cutting-edge robotic surgery through deploying SSi Mantra in existing markets while simultaneously pursuing new geographies,” Dr. Srivastava continued. “In that regard, we expect to submit a De Novo application for approval to market the SSi Mantra to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration by the end of July 2025 for multiple indications and continue along the pathway towards a European Union CE marking certification as soon as late 2025.”

SS Innovations completes robotic telesurgery for weight loss

The company also recently announced it completed a robotic telesurgery for weight loss usng the SSi Mantra 3. This bariatric telesurgery bridged a distance of 560 miles between SS Innovations’ headquarters in Gurugram, India, and the Mohak Bariatric and Robotic Surgery Centre in Indore, India.

Despite the vast distance, the surgery was performed with zero perceptible lag, flawless precision, and seamless robotic control, SS International claimed.

The procedures involved two One-Anastomosis Gastric Bypass (OAGB) surgeries, an advanced form of bariatric surgery that reduces stomach size and reroutes the digestive tract to support long-term weight loss and improve metabolic health. The robotic procedures were successfully performed by Dr. Mohit Bhandari, a renowned bariatric surgeon, President of IRCAD India, and Founder & Director of Mohak Bariatric & Robotic Surgery Centre, Indore.

Operating from Gurugram, Dr. Bhandari remotely led his Indore-based surgical team, which provided on-site assistance, ensuring expert execution and clinical excellence throughout.

“With the SSi Mantra 3, we have not only demonstrated the immense potential of robotic telesurgery but also redefined the boundaries of surgical care. Performing the world’s first robotic telesurgery for weight loss is a moment of immense professional pride. This milestone represents a bold new paradigm for access, equity, and excellence in healthcare,” Dr. Bhandari said.
