
Deriva Energy, LLC, one of the largest clean power developers, owners, and operators in the United States, has announced the appointment of Russell Young as its new Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Young will be responsible for shaping and executing Deriva’s operational strategy, with a strong focus on expanding its capabilities, improving performance, and driving long-term value through innovation and collaboration.

With over 30 years of leadership experience in the renewable energy sector, Young brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the position. His background spans key areas including wind, solar, energy storage, and renewable equipment manufacturing. Before joining Deriva, he served as Managing Director of Technical Services at Clearway Energy Group. Prior to that, he held several senior roles at ENGIE North America, including Vice President of Operations for Renewables in the U.S. and Canada.
Deriva Energy CEO, John Clapp, said in a statement, “We are excited to have Russell join the leadership team at Deriva. He brings industry-leading expertise to our platform of over 9 gigawatts of operating projects including our owned assets and third-party O&M business.”

In addition to his operational leadership roles, Young has also worked with some of the world’s leading equipment manufacturers, such as GE, Vestas, and ABB PowerOne, further strengthening his expertise in clean energy technologies. His appointment is expected to support Deriva’s continued growth and enhance its ability to deliver reliable, sustainable energy solutions across North America.
